How to get to Cannes - airport, train, car
From Nice airport, by TER, by car. Every route with real prices and actual travel times.
Nice Cote d'Azur Airport is 25 kilometres from Cannes. The TER trains run every 20 minutes. You do not need a car - in fact, it is actively discouraged. Whether you are arriving by plane, TGV from Paris, or driving from another city, this guide gives you every route with exact prices and real times. The short answer: the train is almost always the best option.
From Nice airport to Cannes
Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE) is the main entry point. Four options to reach Cannes, from cheapest to fastest.
TER train (best value): take the free airport shuttle to Nice Saint-Augustin station (5 minutes). From there, a direct TER takes you to Cannes in 30 minutes for 6.20 euros. Trains run every 20 minutes from 6am to 11:30pm. This is the most reliable option - no traffic jams, no surprises. Total door-to-door time: about 45 minutes.
Bus 210: the Lignes d'Azur 210 bus connects the airport to Cannes for just 1.50 euros. The journey takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. Departures roughly every 30 minutes. Cheapest option but least reliable in terms of time - summer traffic on the motorway can double the journey.
Taxi: expect 70 to 90 euros depending on traffic and time of day. Journey of 30 to 45 minutes. Taxis are available outside both terminals. Practical with heavy luggage or for families, but expensive for a journey the train does in 30 minutes for 6.20 euros.
Uber and VTC: similar prices to taxis, sometimes slightly cheaper. Book via the app. Same traffic constraints.
Do not rent a car
Clear and definitive. Cannes is a compact city, 2 kilometres from east to west. Everything is walkable. Street parking costs 2 to 3 euros per hour, underground car parks cost 2 to 2.50 euros per hour. In July-August, finding a spot is near impossible. Traffic is heavy, streets are narrow, and one-way systems are endless. The bus costs 1.50 euros, the train connects every Riviera town, and Uber works 24 hours. Save your money for restaurants.
By train from Paris
The TGV from Paris Gare de Lyon to Cannes is direct. The journey takes about 5 hours. On OuiGo (the SNCF low-cost TGV), tickets start at 39 euros if you book early - sometimes 19 euros on flash sales. On TGV inOui, expect 60 to 140 euros depending on date and time. Cannes station is right in the city centre, 5 minutes walk from Rue d'Antibes and 10 minutes from the Croisette. You step off the train and you are already in Cannes.
Connections from other Cote d'Azur towns
The TER is the simplest way to travel along the Cote d'Azur. Trains are frequent, punctual, and require no reservation.
📱 Tip: the SNCF Connect app
Download the SNCF Connect app before your trip. You can buy TER tickets directly on your phone - no need to print anything. The ticket displays as a QR code. For regional TER trains, no reservation is needed: buy the ticket and board the next train.
